BEHIND THE SCENE

If the Turkish legend of Hazarfen Ahmet Celebi were real...

I wondered about what the study room of an engineer dreaming of flying from the top of the Galata Tower with handcrafted wings would look like, and I decided on such a design. I 3D modeled it in Maya, and tried to give it a real photographic appearance. I wanted to capture the personality of a daring and wild engineer from the Ottoman period.

03 LIT ENVIRONMENT

04 COMPOSITED ENVIRONMENT

After settling on a concept and doing my research, I modeled all the needed props in Maya.

Keeping a clean topology on all objects is important for UV'ing and texturing phases.

This is the step where I assigned all the materials(how a surface reacts with light) and the textures (the color and pattern of the surface).

NOTE: I do not own any of the textures used in this scene.

The above image shows how the scene appears after being lit using Arnold lights and rendered with Arnold renderer. Rim lights and atmospheric volume are two elements that brought this scene to life.

After lighting and rendering in Arnold, I composited the image in Photoshop, mostly adjusting the colors.
